The Hawaii Service Trip Program, Sierra Club scheduled a one-week service trip at Waikamoi Trail on Maui
The HSTP Waikamoi crew of twelve worked with Maui Na Ala Hele
The crew constructed gravel boxes and worked onother trail improvements on the trail
A Motorized Mule helps carry the load
We finished our job assignment early and started digging new trails in the Makawao Forest Reserve and Kahakuloa area.Building steps along the steep sections fo the trail eases the climb
We stayed at historic Kaulanapueo Church Hall, in Huelo, Maui. The crew work hard, eat hearty, enjoyed a "Gotta Be Hawaiian Talent Show" and played marathon card games. During ourfree time, we swam at neighboring streams, hiked Haleakala, swam at Fleming Beach, toured Maui, proving that HSTP trips are not all work and no fun
Maui Na Ala Helewas pleased with our work and want the Sierra Club to come backand do more trail work. Yeah!!
