The Geraldine Cline Memorial Fund Aloha kakou,
The Geraldine Cline Memorial Fund provides grants to young people for leadership development related to ecology, environmental concerns and outings training in a natural environment (such as hiking, backpacking, etc.). The grant applies only to trips sponsored and led by the Hawaii Service Trip Program (HSTP) of the Sierra Club, Hawaii Chapter.
The Trustees of the fund will consider a proposal for a grant upon receipt of
(1) a written proposal by the requester detailing how the grant would improve the development of his or her leadership skills, citing participation in appropriate activities, experience, initiative, training, skills and/or education,
and
(2) a letter of recommendation by a sponsor (trip leader, instructor, supervisor, mentor, etc.) explaining why the requestor should receive the grant. Include information on the sponsor's relation to the requester, length of time of the acquaintance, assessment of the requester's character, commitment, capabilities and leadership potential.
The Trustees will review the proposal and letters of recommendation and, if approved, determine an amount and disburse it to the grant recipient (grantee) or, optionally, to the Hawaii Service Trip Program in the grantee's name. The Trustees reserve the right to reject the proposal.
The grantee shall file a full written report with the Trustees of the Fund within three (3) months after the completion of the trip.
